Technological innovation for
the knowledge of the Roman Tiermes' wall
The application of new technologies will provide new
data on Termestine fortification
AMARC-IEU: 15/10/2020
The archaeological intervention carried out by the
Archaeology Unit of IE University in 2019 in the
northern sector of the Roman wall of Tiermes (Soria,
Spain) has documented a sequence that covers more than
two millennia of urban transformations.
This innovation project, financed by the Junta of
Castilla y Leon, will shed light on the possibilities
offered by the latest advances in absolute dating
techniques. These methods, based on radiocarbon and
luminiscence procedures, will make it possible to
clarify the knowledge of the different construction
phases developed in this urban sector of the ancient
city, with special interest in the construction of its
main fortification.

Heritage take place. On this occasion, taking into
account the health situation, the number of conferences
scheduled has been reduced, without inferring a loss of
quality in the different activities. In this way, a
cultural activity is maintained in Herrera de Pisuerga
that accompanies the excavation in the Roman site of the
"Camino de las Ánimas".
The presentations are maintained for the fifth year,
