Roman Villas. XX Years of
Research
AMARC-IEU: 20/11/2023 On the 20th anniversary of the Museum of Roman
Villas’ creation, MVR (Almenara de Adaja-Puras,
Valladolid), the Archaeology Unit of IE University was
invited to participate in the event held last 18th
November, exposing the latest milestones achieved in the
Roman villa of Las Pizarras (Coca, Segovia).
This meeting aimed to present the evolution of
methodological approaches and the advances developed
with the new technologies applied to the investigation
of the main villas of Castilla y León.
Saturday, October 21. Trip to
Segobriga Archaeology Club

The IE archaeology Club members started the academic
course 2023-2024 exploring nine centuries of Spanish
history in a trip to the archaeological park of
Segobriga (Cuenca) to unveil the ruins of a Roman city
throughout its Pre-Roman, Roman and Visigothic
occupation stages.

The Archaeology Club participated in the Club Fair 2023,
held on both campuses of Madrid and Segovia last August
31st, to welcome new students and present the projects
and extracurricular activities they get involved in with
the Archaeology Unit and the Antiquity & Middle Ages
Research Centre and linked to Heritage.

An open day in Tiermes
broadcasts the values of the site, the archaeological
news and the restoration of the Roman wall

General Director of Cultural Heritage, Juan Carlos
Prieto, has presented the open day in the Sorian site of
Tiermes, celebrated due to the restoration carried out
in the North section of the Late Empire wall of one of
the most important sites of both Castile and Leon and
the overall Spanish archaeological panorama. The Junta
has been releasing an intense and continuous
conservation and research campaign in this place, with
an investment of more than 2 million euros so far.

IE University will recreate the Theodosian era villa at
Coca with immersive technologies The initiative becomes part of a
sustainable economic development project in the Segovian
village

To promote tourism as a sustainable economic engine is
the objective that IE University pursues in Coca with
'CavcAR: Heritage, new technologies and economic
development', a project that aims the reconstruction of
"Las Pizarras" villa in the Metaverse, a Roman site
where the Archaeology Unit of IE University has been
working during the last 24 years.

Workshop: Visualising Global,
Local and Glocal in Roman Archaeology

The Archaeology Unit of IE University will participate,
on February 3rd, in a workshop in Rome held by the KNIR (Konninklijk Roman
Netherlands Institute). Focused on how globality affects
local responses in the Roman world, this scientific
meeting contributes to resolving global challenges
across territories. On its dual format
(physical-virtual), the workshop brings together
theorists and professionals of the #arts, #humanities,
and #socialsciences, building bridges across continents.
