  — Rural and social conflicts in Navarre in the 14th and 15th centuries —

The analysis of the social conflicts in the Kingdom of Navarre during one of its most critical periods, between 1349 and 1425, under the reigns of Charles II and Charles III of Évreux, provides a better understanding of the transformation processes of the feudal system in the late Middle Ages. According to the historian Eric Hobsbawm, the study of popular movements is an excellent way of knowing about the underlying social structures not only because the tensions that are latent in previous periods become more visible at the time of such uprisings but also because the documentation generated by the conflicts enables us to know how those who did not usually have any other way of expressing themselves throughout history lived and thought.
