  — Archaeology and architecture in the Hispano-Roman cities along the Douro river —

The origin and development of the known ancient cities in the Douro valley and the northern sub-plateau of Spain are different in each case but, at the same time, there are several common features: most of them emerged before the Roman conquest and their location tended to be in the same place, to which they adapted with diverse planning adjustments. Nevertheless, there is scant data available regarding the first Romanisation phases, which are well recorded in other more western settlements. This project aims to reflect on this problem and on the subsequent development of those towns by analysing the archaeological materials and architectural remains documented in cities such as Termantia, Segovia and Cauca, as well as other representative areas in that territory.
